The Thorny Rod is a Pre-Hardmode tool that has a 1/4 (25%) chance to be obtained from Briar Chests found in the Briar Huts. It functions similarly to the Staff of Regrowth, however it cannot increase the yield of herbs and their seeds upon harvesting them and cannot be used to obtain seeds. Upon using it on Dirt Blocks, it will grow Briar grass, without the need for Briar Grass Seeds. It can also be obtained from Thorny and Thistle Crates.

Its best modifier is Light for harvesting purposes and Legendary for combat purposes.
