The Thornwild Staff was a Pre-Hardmode summon weapon that could be found inside of Briar Chests or Thorny Crates. When used, it summoned a Briar Spirit that dashed at enemies close by. When there were no enemies around, the Briar Spirit floated around the player.
Its best modifier was Ruthless. The Mythical modifier provides the widest array of stat bonuses, but these primarily affect the initial summon rather than the resulting minion. Additionally, minions cannot deal critical hits. The only lasting advantage a Mythical Thornwild Staff had over a Ruthless one is knockback.
Trivia
- The tooltip suggested that it summoned a miniature Wildwood Watcher to fight for you, while this was true due to its appearance; the buff suggested that it summoned a Briar Spirit.
