The Nature's Grasp was a Pre-Hardmode summon weapon that was found in Wooden Chests at a 1/10 (10%) chance or obtained by opening Thorny Crates at a 1/12 (8.33%) chance after the Eye of Cthulhu had been defeated. It fired a green energy beam that traveled in a wave pattern. It caused minions to target the enemy hit and briefly increased their damage by 3 against that enemy. Like all summon weapons, it couldn't deal critical hits, making certain Glyphs that relied on them useless.

Trivia

  • This weapon's behavior was similar to that of a Whip from the Journey's End update, but it was not the same. Whips pierce and cause minions to target the last enemy hit, and generally have a more reliable effect, whereas the Nature's Grasp appeared to use the same targeting mechanism that pressing Open / Activate caused when holding a minion summoning item.
  • Interestingly, the beam progressed from wavy to straight as it was fired more vertically. This change was purely cosmetic and had little to no effect on the weapon's range.

History

  • 1.4.4.1: Reduced mana cost from 12 to 8 and summon tag damage from 3 to 2.
  • 1.4.3: Now obtained from Wooden Chests, rather than Briar Chests.
