Asteroid Debris are ambient entities that spawn in the Asteroid Field. They float around aimlessly while constantly rotating slowly in place. Asteroid Debris are indestructible and cannot be damaged by any means. There is a rare chance for Asteroid Debris to be replaced with a gold variant.
Gold variants have 500 health, emit gold particles, and can be damaged by the player, NPC or other sources that deal damage. When the gold variants take damage, they will start to shake and glow, with them shaking more violently and glowing more vibrant as they lose health. Upon death, they will explode and drop coins.
Asteroid Debris can also be intersected when the player moves through them or getting hit by certain moving projectiles.
The debris will also take the amount of knockback they receive into account when being knocked around. When being knocked around, debris will slowly decelerate as they travel before stopping in place or stopping completely when getting stuck in a tile.
Notes
- Asteroid Debris are able to despawn off-screen like enemies and critters.
- Debris cannot be intersected by enemies or their projectiles.
- Gold Debris cannot be damaged by enemies or their projectiles.
- When hovering the cursor on golden debris, their name displays as "Hit Me!", which is most likely to encourage players to damage the debris.
