"You have yet to defeat the true master of hell.."
Infernon is an early Hardmode boss that is fought in The Underworld. He is intended to be fought after the Wall of Flesh or the mechanical bosses.
While Infernon is alive, his exclusive music will play.
Spawn
Infernon does not spawn on its own and requires the player to summon him with the Pain Caller in the Underworld.
Behavior
Infernon flies above the player, occasionally swooping down at them and firing various projectiles while occasionally summoning Infernon Skulls. Infernon will also spawn the Infernus Skull, which fights alongside him as an invincible ally and in Expert Mode, it also functions as the final phase of the boss fight.
When Infernon is killed in Normal Mode, he leaves his drops in an 11x11 box of Hellstone Brick.
Attacks
- Infernon stays above the player and fires
Infernal Waves at them that go through tiles and has a chance to inflict the On Fire! debuff on contact.
- He will fire strings of 5 small
Firespikes which explode when they hit the ground.
- He will stay still and summon flaming skulls that quickly home in on the player when they are in close range with them, otherwise they will fly away and despawn. These skulls have 65 / 130 / 195 health and they can be killed in a single or a few hits.
- At 7000 health, he will summon the Infernus Skull.
In Expert Mode
- Infernon will attack at a slightly faster rate.
- The Infernus Skull is summoned at the beginning of the fight.
- Once Infernon has been defeated, the Infernus Skull will spawn and initiate as Infernon's final phase.

"You have yet to defeat the true master of Hell..."
The Infernus Skull is a floating skull that is summoned by Infernon when he reaches below 7000 health, at the beginning of the fight in Expert Mode and after Infernon has been defeated in Expert Mode.
In Expert Mode, the Infernus Skull leaves its drops in a 7x7 box of Hellstone Brick.
Behavior
With Infernon
It will fire 8 infernal waves in the angles halfway between the cardinal directions in addition to firing two Fire Blasts at the player which explode on contact. The Infernus Skull does not move and will teleport to another place and repeat the attack again. It is invincible while Infernon is alive.
Without Infernon
After Infernon is defeated, its behavior will change. It stops teleporting and uses these attacks in the following order:
- Fires 8 infernal waves in the angles halfway between the cardinal directions.
- Fires short-lived homing blasts. It does not perform this attack when below 1/3rd of its health.
- Fires 4 fireballs in a + shape around itself. those fireballs explode into 4 smaller fireballs in a + shape. If it is below 2/3rds of its health, it may fire 4 additional fireballs further away and is performed much more frequently.
Trivia
- There are two different versions of the Infernus Skull in the source files. Each one has a different behavior.
