The Beholder is a Pre-Hardmode enemy that spawns in the Marble Caves after the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu have been defeated and only one can exist at a time. The Ancient Gazes quest requires the player to defeat at least one Beholder. While the quest is active, Beholders are considerably more common.
It constantly flies around the player and perform 3 dashes at them to deal contact damage. Upon contact, it will siphon the player's mana, draining up to 60 of their mana points, and inflict them with the Bleeding debuff. It will then teleport to a random spot, becoming stationary and firing 5 ricocheting fireballs at the player, which inflict the On Fire! debuff.
It can be detected with an Lifeform Analyzer.
